Here’s How Molded Pulp Is Made
Are you currently utilizing plastic, hexacomb, or styrofoam for your packaging needs? The unfortunate truth about these products is they are not made of sustainable materials. Luckily, there is a sustainable packaging solution out there – and it’s called molded pulp. Molded pulp is made like no other packaging material because it is better than other packaging materials. Check out the step-by-step process on how molded pulp is made below!
The step-by-step process
Molded pulp is considered a sustainable packaging material because it is made from recycled sources such as newsprint, magazine print, and paperboard. These materials are then mixed with water, and with our innovative 3D technology tools, dipped into a slurry tank creating the most dynamic geometric shapes and sizes. The last step of the process is to place the pulp mold into a large oven, allowing the pulp to gain strength and durability as it dries. Overall, molded pulp is an excellent packaging material because even after its lifetime, it will break down into the environment in less than a year.
